Ask anyone who has recently moved house what the most stressful and time-consuming part of the process was, and the answer is almost always the same: the packing. Boxing up your entire life, ensuring fragile items are adequately protected, and keeping track of where everything is going is a monumental task. At GM MZ Removals, we believe you shouldn't have to spend your evenings and weekends buried in cardboard boxes and bubble wrap. We offer comprehensive, professional packing and unpacking services across Greater Manchester, designed to protect your belongings and give you back your valuable time.
Whether you are moving a small city-centre apartment, a large family home, or a commercial office, our expert packers are trained in the art of secure, efficient packing. We utilize industry-leading materials and proven techniques to ensure your items—from robust furniture to delicate family heirlooms—survive the journey without a single scratch.
The True Value of Professional Packing Services
Many people underestimate the sheer volume of items hidden away in cupboards, lofts, and garages until it is time to move. Attempting a DIY pack often leads to rushed boxes, inadequate protection, and a chaotic unpacking experience. Here is why hiring GM MZ Removals' professional packers is a wise investment:
- Ultimate Protection and Reduced Risk: Professional packers know exactly how to wrap delicate china, pad flat-screen televisions, and secure artwork. Our expert techniques drastically minimize the risk of breakages during transit.
- Massive Time Savings: What might take you weeks of evening and weekend work, our dedicated team can accomplish in just a single day. You can continue with your normal work and family life right up until moving day.
- Premium Materials Included: You don't need to worry about sourcing enough boxes or running out of tape. We bring a full arsenal of high-quality, purpose-built packing materials with us.
- Fully Insured Coverage: When you pack items yourself, most removal insurance policies provide limited or no cover for breakages within those boxes (as the packing quality cannot be verified). When our professionals pack your home, your belongings are fully covered by our comprehensive Goods in Transit insurance.
Our Flexible Packing Options Tailored to You
We recognize that every move and budget is different. That is why we don't force a one-size-fits-all package. We offer several tiers of packing services to perfectly match your requirements.
1. The Full Packing Service
This is the ultimate stress-free option. Usually arriving the day before your move, our team will meticulously pack your entire property. We handle everything: emptying kitchen cabinets, wrapping fragile ornaments, boxing up your library, and safely packing all electronics. Every box is clearly labeled with its contents and its designated room in your new property. All you need to do is sit back and watch.
2. Fragile-Only Packing Service
If you are happy to pack your own books, clothes, and non-breakable items but feel anxious about your delicate possessions, this is the perfect compromise. Our specialists will focus entirely on your kitchenware, glassware, mirrors, artwork, ornaments, and electronics. We utilize specialized acid-free tissue paper, dense bubble wrap, and double-walled cartons to ensure your most vulnerable items are entirely secure.
3. Partial Packing Service
Perhaps you only need help with specific, difficult rooms, such as the kitchen, the garage, or the loft. We can provide targeted packing assistance tailored exactly to your instructions. You simply tell us which areas you want us to handle, and we will take care of the rest.
4. Owner-Packed (Material Supply Only)
If you prefer to maintain complete control and pack everything yourself, we fully support that decision. We can supply and deliver all the professional-grade packing materials you will need well in advance of your move date.
Premium Packing Materials We Use
The safety of your belongings relies heavily on the quality of the materials encasing them. We never use flimsy, recycled supermarket boxes. Our packing inventory includes:
- Double-Walled Corrugated Boxes: Available in multiple sizes, these provide exceptional structural integrity and won't crush when stacked in the removal vehicle.
- Wardrobe Cartons: Tall boxes equipped with an internal hanging rail. We transfer your clothes directly from your wardrobe onto the rail, ensuring suits and dresses arrive completely crease-free.
- Acid-Free Packing Paper: Used for wrapping delicate china and silverware. Unlike newspaper, it leaves no ink residue and won't tarnish metals.
- Specialised Mattress and Sofa Covers: Heavy-duty polythene covers designed to protect your upholstery from dust, moisture, and scuffs.
- Custom Crating: For exceptionally high-value or fragile items such as chandeliers, large sculptures, or antique grandfather clocks, we can arrange bespoke wooden crating.
Professional Unpacking Services: Settle In Instantly
The exhaustion of moving day often hits hardest when you arrive at your new property and are faced with a mountain of sealed boxes. GM MZ Removals offers a comprehensive unpacking service designed to help you settle into your new home immediately.
Our unpacking service isn't just about opening boxes; it's about organization. We offer different levels of unpacking support:
- Flat Surface Unpacking: We will unpack your boxes and arrange the items neatly onto flat surfaces (such as kitchen counters and dining tables) in their respective rooms, allowing you to easily put them away into cupboards at your own pace.
- Full Put-Away Service: Working closely with your instructions, we can completely unpack and organize your belongings directly into your kitchen cabinets, wardrobes, and bookshelves.
- Debris Removal: Regardless of the unpacking level you choose, we will flatten, remove, and ethically recycle all empty cardboard boxes, bubble wrap, and packing paper from your property, leaving your new home clean, tidy, and completely box-free.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
When does the packing service take place?
For a standard Full Packing Service, our team typically arrives the day before your scheduled move. This ensures the packing is completed thoroughly without rushing. For smaller properties or partial packs, we can sometimes complete the packing and the move on the same day, provided an early start is arranged.
Do I need to clean items before you pack them?
While we don't require items to be professionally cleaned, we highly recommend dusting off belongings and ensuring kitchen appliances are clean, defrosted, and dry. Packing dusty or greasy items can soil the packing materials and transfer dirt to other belongings during the move.
How do you keep track of what is in each box?
Organization is key to our packing strategy. Every box we pack is clearly labeled with a brief description of its contents (e.g., "Everyday Cutlery & Plates") and the designated destination room (e.g., "Kitchen"). This strict labeling system ensures boxes are deposited in the correct location at your new home, making the unpacking process seamless.
Will you pack hazardous or perishable items?
For safety and insurance reasons, there are certain items our team cannot pack or transport in our vehicles. These include hazardous chemicals, flammable liquids, paints, pressurized aerosols, firearms, and perishable foods. We will provide you with a full list of prohibited items prior to packing day so you can make alternative transport arrangements for them.
What if I am only moving a few streets away? Do I still need proper packing?
Yes. The distance of the journey doesn't alter the physical forces acting on your belongings when they are lifted, carried, and loaded into a vehicle. A fragile vase can easily break whether it is traveling 5 miles or 500 miles. Proper packing is always essential to guarantee the safety of your possessions.
